Woke

In a world where woke is the gold,
We applaud the bold, the stories retold,
Of heroes with opinions oh so grand,
In a Twitterverse that can’t understand.

Roll out the hashtags, light up the screens,
Fight over what intersectionality means.
We’ll save the world one tweet at a time,
Justice in a post, oh, isn’t it sublime?

“Oh, so woke,” they proudly claim,
A trophy for every social justice game.
Where virtue’s a cloak, donned in haste,
In the rush, we forget the taste—

Of genuine kindness, lost in the noise,
Replaced by outrage, and internet ploys.
We cancel, we clash, oh, we never forgive,
In a digital court where we all live.

For every complex problem, a meme so sleek,
Who needs nuance when you can be chic?
A retweet is support, do you feel the vibe?
While the real issues, oh, they barely survive.

We pat our backs in this enlightened brigade,
Where every ally’s a hero, self-made.
Yet, where’s the action beyond the screen?
Is change not more than a social media scene?

So here we stand, so flawlessly woke,
Masters of the art of virtue’s stroke.
Yet, beneath the facade of this well-meaned joke,
Lies the echo of empathy—oh wait, it broke.
